The shocking announcement that the H1B visa quota has already been met was announced by USCIS today. This is particularly bad news for immigration law firms who rely largely on employment-based immigration because there will be little left to do for a couple months.
The HIB visa program is the primary mechanism for foreign professionals to be able to come to the US for term-employment. This might not be considered a crisis (although, some immigrants might beg to differ), but it is certainly a reason pro-immigration people are arguing for a change in the country's immigration laws.
