I'm not sure when this nation was swept with how-to-books, nor am I sure it is to blame for this soon to be mentioned idiocy. However, I think that instead of "No Child Left Behind" there should be a "No Parent Left Behind" Act.
One of my friends has a part-time job at Borders Bookstore. As it is the start of a new year, many students or parents or both are coming to pick up a few books off their reading list.
He alerts me that he has had a few parents come and ask him where they might find How To Kill a Mockingbird. His response is the only one you can really give, "Oh, that is over in the How-To Section."

These are the people who will be voting in a couple months: beware.
