This week was quite a bit of fun. The work week was pretty easy for me because I didn't have to go into work on Monday. Instead, I was able to go to the swearing in ceremony in Austin, Texas for all the new attorneys. Then we only worked until about 3pm on Wednesday because of an enjoyable office potluck. I was able to eat a lot of turkey and a couple tamales.
My thanksgiving kicked off with a trip to Killeen, Texas to see my sister, brother in law, nephew, niece, uncle, cousin, mom, stepdad and grandparents. It is my sister and her husband and kids who live in Killeen because he's a soldier in the 4th Infantry. He's shipping out to Iraq on Monday morning for his second tour. The traffic was terrible on Thursday morning, so I wasn't able to get there until the early afternoon.
We did the normal stuff with watching football and preparing the food. I was also able to get myself signed up for the White Rock Lake half marathon. I thought that I'd be prepared for the marathon, but I was sidetracked by the eye injury. Then we went out to try to fix my sister's car. It was unsuccessful.
The dinner was at this little hospitality house that they had on base. We just moved all the food there and had plenty of room to eat, watch football, and enjoy our evening together. I got into an argument with my grandfather about the merits of various casinos in Vegas. Of course, I won as he was arguing that there is nothing wrong with Circus Circus. I believe that I cinched it by mentioning that it's cool to see the beautiful fountains at Bellagio, the elegance of Paris and the class of Wynn then you look across the street and see a giant plastic clown at Circus, Circus.
The rest of my weekend was also nice. My uncle and cousin came into town to hang out with me. We spent a lot of time talking together, we went to some nice restaurants, and I took them to a professional basketball game and a horse track. It was quite a bit of fun.
