Brat Frat

The New York Times Magazine has an interesting story about the changing (it's difficult to say evolving in this situation, because, I sense that it is outside forces causing the change) atmosphere of fraternities.

It's doom and gloom time for many fraternity boys at Northwestern and at colleges across the country. University administrators, alarmed by the extent of binge drinking on their campuses, are cracking down on the excesses of Greek life, saying it's high time for fraternity boys to shape up and sober up. While all kinds of college students binge drink, the 2001 College Alcohol Study by the Harvard School of Public Health found that fraternity house residents are twice as likely to do so as other students.

I was never in a fraternity so my perspective is just that of an outsider looking in. I'm more interested to see if Dylan, who sometimes posts about his days in a fraternity at A&M, will have anything to say about the piece.

Good idea, I've been considering a series on hair raising frat adventures.

As long as it involves pictures; preferably of young co-eds who recently rushed a sorority.

Mine was actually a (fairly badly behaved) coed business fraternity. We did more hazing than most, though. Many hot girl pictures are to be had, but I'll need a scanner.
