Death Penalty Roundup: South v. North Edition

There are some interesting things happening this week that don't involve Britney wanting a forensic science degree...

The second time's the charm in those southern states...

Louisiana:

Twenty-sixth Judicial Judge Parker Self ruled Monday afternoon that the District Attorney?s office has the right to seek the death penalty a second time for a man who was convicted of first degree murder 15 years ago.

Alabama:

A Dothan man, convicted in a 1996 crack house shooting that left three people dead, received the death penalty for the second time after a re-sentencing hearing Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the North continues to fight whether to allow the death penalty at all after it was repealed...

and Illinois has new guidelines for the death penalty even though they are still in a death penalty moratorium.

They won't seek the death penalty in Seattle and it's on the decline in Kansas. However, prosecutors in Pennsylvania will seek the death penalty against a Jamaican national and they'll go for it in Indiana if you slay a 12-year-old girl.
