At least tell us the truth

Why do you have to be two-faced and contradictory with the Nation if you're the President? Bush seems unable to realize that with technology everything he says and does is recorded and available to reference in seconds after he says something new. Perhaps before he makes claims he ought to look up his past words and the words of the people he claims to understand.

The lies need to end. Think Progress has detailed a lot of these nasty two-faced assertions that Bush made this evening to the American public.

For example, Bush said this evening that he recently asked his joint chief of staff chairman whether the current deployment level in Iraq limits options elsewhere. He said the answer to him was no. Well, it wasn't 3 months ago that this same Joint Chief of Staff chairman said that the Iraq war would make it difficult to respond if something happened in Iran or North Korea.

Another fun claim:

President Bush said he was “amazed” that a “phenomenal” amount of taxpayer money goes unpaid every year.

What a difference a year makes.

Just last August, remember, President Bush explained why he’s refusing to close tax loopholes or roll back tax cuts for those earning over $200,000 a year because, as he said, “the really rich people figure out how to dodge taxes anyway.”

Contining to protect his wealthy friends in every way he can at the expense of everyone who isn't rich enough (or greedy enough) to cheat our way out of tax obligations.

Many, many more from the press conference are available for your careful attention.
