Today Bush called the recent Amnesty Report that details abuse in Guantanamo "absurd". What is funny about this is that the US government, specifically the USCIS (Citizenship and Immigration Services) considers Amnesty International reports as acceptable evidence of abuse and torture for people seeking asylum.
Perhaps nobody gave him the memo on USCIS practices, although, I thought he always claimed he understood immigration law better than most.
Wouldn't it be better for our fearless leader to say something along the lines of, "It is in our country's best interest to be certain that torture, abuse, and other forms of oppression are not occurring to anyone under or province or control. This report is deeply troubling, and if true, will be rectified as soon as possible. I have personally demanded an in depth investigation into the allegations from both this report and numerous other sources that have developed in recent months."
That, I suppose, would be too rational for this fearless leader.
