Connecticut officials called off New England's first execution in 45 years Monday after serial killer Michael Ross changed his mind and admitted he may be mentally incompetent.
Early Saturday the execution was delayed until today. Now the execution will be postponed until a later time.
The legal cause relates back to Ross's voluntary waiver of appeals.
Last year, he waived all remaining appeals, saying he wanted to be put to death to give closure to his victims' families.
However, third parties, including his father and Connecticut public defenders, sought to have the Ivy League graduate's execution delayed on the grounds that he was not competent to waive his appeals
Difficult times ahead in Connecticut.
