Curing Fear
Despite his best efforts, I don't think that Juan Cole will get very far in his correction of the blatant ignorance of Jeff Jacoby. The problem, of course, is that with bigotry there is very little cure. Whether or not Jacoby is actually a bigot (or if he just writes things that can be called bigotry) is of little consequence, because anyone reading his words who feels the same will not be swayed by Cole. Cole presents facts and rational arguments that are firmly routed in history. Bigots do not care about any of those things.
