Talk Left has a little bit on why parts of the Real ID Act are a bad thing. I agree with the criticisms they mention. I know that at my office (right now I'm working at an immigration law firm, and will more than likely become and immigration practitioner) are pretty upset by portions of it.
We don't do much refugee work but this is dangerous for that. What is unfortunate about this is that America is often respected and looked up to for its decent refugee/asylum regime that helps people find refuge from their persecution.
This will be an unfortunate change in our already deficient immigration law.
